Audio trouble! Assistance needed!
My final project has a section where the background sound is too loud and the actor is whispering, so it’s almost impossible to hear what he’s saying. Is there any conceivable setting for the audio to be adjusted so he can be heard? We’ve tried playing with the filters ourselves and even tweaking it in Pro Tools, but to no avail. Part of the problem is that the microphone we used wasn’t as close as it should have been to him. However, it’s too late for us to get the equipment again and reshoot.

Get the actor in the studio and dub.
A decent actor can dub his own voice very accurate.
It will be way less work and you end up with way better results.Bouke

Depending on what the background noise is, good denoising software may help, but without hearing the clip I can’t say. Sound Track pro has denoising, bit I prefer iZotope RX2.

In SoundTrack Pro there is a spectral display which lets you see sounds separately. There you can mark the portion that constitutes the noise and delete it. Otherwise Bouke’s suggestion of overdubbing is good too.

Yeah, we ended up bringing the actor back in and dubbing his lines again. We were lucky he was still in town. Thanks for the suggestions!
