First, this problem is not happening with my computer or FCP program so the only info I have is that this person is working in Final Cut Express on a laptop… sorry. 🙁

My friend e-mailed and said that both the Viewer and Canvas windows were just white screens on playback and on still frames. I had them check and make sure the channels were set to RGB, which they were, and still the same problem. They restarted, still same problem. I had them open a previous project that worked fine in the past and that project had white screens now too. Not sure what else to check. Any ideas? Thanks.

It may be a problem with the media. Do the clips open in the QuickTime player? In the QT player what does it say in the Movie Inspector?

    All the best,

As Tom is alluding to, the media is not in a codec that FCExpress understands.

    Like ProRes, just for example.

I am having this same issue. I got footage from a friend who used Sony EX1 cam. I have FCP 6 Academic only. So the XDCAM HD422 codec is missing. Any way I can get this with out the FCP upgrade? Any other solutions?

    Thanks!
