An issue with the 7D/T2i plugin involving .thm files
Hey guys,
So basically here’s my deal. Few months ago I shot a web show all using 3 t2i’s and 1 7D and I’ve used the FCP plugin many a time. Yet my External HDD in which I was importing crashed and I lost all my data. Using a program, I was able to recover all of the .mov files that I had. However, I lost all the .thms. The plugin requires to use the .thms and I’ve done the trick of copying .thms and renaming them to they match the clip name perfectly and then I would create a disk image from folder using Disk Utility in order for them to mount correctly so that FCP would read them (It’s worked perfectly like a charm for the first 3rd of the footage that I’ve worked with thus far). Well as I was doing that until recently, I noticed that even though I had the correct .thms for the associated files by name, FCP just stopped reading them. It started showing less and less clips. I tried so many different attempts at getting it to read that I’ve just been super upset at dealing with it.
And quite frankly, it’s getting really annoying that I have to create .thm files for 925 different clips (not to mention, having to rename the .thm file if it’s a 7D or a t2i type mov).
Are there any other ways of getting this footage back into FCP without losing any quality? I have tons of HDD space so I’m willing to use the least amount of compression so that FCP will read it correctly.
Thanks for the help
