Lines keep going up on the DV footage.
Hi,
I have a really big problem on my video project now.
we are on the making a concert video and did record it with Sony ENG DV camera(no camera information now).
we did recognize having a problem which was lines, 3 or 4, kept going up on the screen right before concert began, but we couldn’t afford to delay the schedule. So we did record that anyway.
Now we are on the post production.
Is that any possible way to correct this problem?
Any suggestions or help will be appreciated.

I’m working with FCP version 7.0.3, DV NTSC Project and will finally meke it to NTSC DVD.

And these lines were moving gradually from the bottom of the screen to the top?
Looks like an electrical grounding problem, where two pieces of equipment were connected together with different electrical grounds. Were you using a separate camera and recorder? It can also come from a mixer if both the mixer and camera are AC powered. If it’s recorded onto your tape, there’s not much you can do to get rid of it.

Yes you’re right. Lines moving from the bottom to the top and we recorded it separately.
it was connected by BNC cable from the camera to the DV deck and it finally went to the mixer, but it recorded on the DV deck because camera itself has a recorder problem.
we used three cameras and recorded it on the same condition; each camera was connected to each DV deck on the purpose to use the 184 minute DVCAM tape.
But the only one recorded footage has a problem so I thought it was BNC cable problem, which was connected from camera to DV deck.
You really think there is noting I can do to make it better?
I don’t know what to do. I think I’m in the real situation.
My client will definitely be made at me.

What you are seeing is a 50 or 60 cycle (depending where in the world you are) hum. I don’t know of any way to remove it easily. There might be some specialized software or plugins for minimizing this, but because the bars are moving, it’s very difficult to deal with. Neat Video make an interesting noise reducer plug in, but I don’t think it will work with moving hum bars.
