  FCE won’t recognize my tape!

  hey!
  so I’m trying to use my canon 2R80 as a deck. It’ll log and capture any sony dv premium tape like normal but when i try to L/C a panasonic tape/sony color collection tape, it won’t import it. All I see on the FCE interface is the black screen that says “waiting for timecode device must be in VTR mode (it is) when device control is enabled.” but the vtr is connected and the tape will even play in the log and capture window. the deck is working, it seems like the tapes not being recognized….whats going on here? anybody know?

  Are the tapes you are trying to capture shot as HDV, and not DV? The tapes are the same, but you can record DV or HDV onto them.
