option+click audio level overlay changes volume
Hey Guys,
I want to create a new keyframe on an audio clip. SOMETIMES when I do this, it changes the volume based on where my mouse is…if there is already a keyframe on the clip, this isn’t the case. It seems to be only when I add a keyframe for the first time, and it’s only when I use the mouse. If I double click the clip into the viewer, and add it from the keyframe creation button…it works fine.
My workaround is to resize the track and make it very large so when I do add the keyframe, it doesn’t move it very much.
Bizarre thing is that it doesn’t seem to be every time. I can’t nail down when it happens…I can’t recreate it, but when it does happen…it’s consistent. I can undo and do it again…

Yeah, this happens all the time with our pens on the tablet too. When you click, if you move at all, the keyframe will jump or down. Even if you don’t think you’re moving, if the system detects movement it will happen.
One way to fix this is to actually slow down the mouse tracking speed so it’s not quite so sensitive. Many people speed up the tracking so it takes less movement of the mouse to move it across the screen. But when you do this, it makes the mouse very sensitive to movement. So when you click, it causes the jump or drop in the track.
Also, if you don’t click dead center on that very thin line, it can also cause the jumps. It’s just something I’ve gotten used to over the years. I just reset the keyframe to 0 and then make the changes where necessary.

or another workflow is to use the Cmd Opt K shortcut (Add Level Keyframe) to add an audio level keyframe at the playhead position without using the mouse/pen/whatever
