    Hi Everyone.

I have been noticing burned out looks in lots of music videos. Red flashes, cross processing artifacts and nice color blow outs/

See the Tom Jones latest: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQFWUHBbpqs&feature=player_embedded

Is there plugins in FCP that give the burned out red flashes and cross processed film damage?

Or is it a matter of layering some different stock footage?

how do editors of FCP get those great color blow outs and edgy color flashes?

I would appreciate some tips on edgy film damage looks from all the FCP users who edit music videos.

    thanks

    ham

Not a plugin per sey, but footage you composite over the stuff you have:

MInd you, this was “edgy” about 10 years ago. Now it is just cliché. BUT, it works for some things. But it is hardly new.

Do a search for film burn effect.

The light flashes, RGB splits and scale bumps look like they could have been done with an After Effects plug-in from Video Copilot called Twitch. It’s nothing AE can’t do on it’s own but it puts a bunch of twitchy effects into one nice controllable plug.

Kinda wish more people would spend their time creating their OWN looks rather than trying to copy everyone else’s (ad nauseum).
