I’ve got a frustrating issue going on that I’ve never seen before… perhaps one of you has. I shot a football game yesterday on a Sony EX-3 and collected 94 clips. After importing via XD-Cam transfer everything seemed normal. On further review…. even though the clip names are in the bin sequentially, the actual time code media start points are out of sequence. I’ve tried to sort them based on media start but even that doesn’t completely do the trick. Things are still not perfectly in sequence. This is creating a genuine headache trying to get everything to line up correctly. Suggestions? Thoughts?

You may have the camera set to “Time of the day” or “Free Run”.
Set the camera to “Rec run”.

It might be more tedious than its worth, but if you know the actual order of the clips, you can assign an Aux Timecode to each clip (make the in point of each clip the out point of the previous clip +1 frame)

Well, QTchange can create Rec run style TC in batch.
But, i can’t see the problem of the OP.

If he shot free run, the timecode should be up-numbering, unless someone messed with the TC setup during the shoot.

In that case, sifting on TC won’t work, but sifting on clipname always should work…

I figured out what the problem was. After the first half I shut down the camera and swapped out batteries. The timecode somehow reset itself. When I imported all the clips into FCP it co-mingled shots from the first half and the second by placing them in order by media start versus date modified.
