We are noticing a 30% drop in file size when importing an Apple Pro Res file into Final Cut, performing minor editing (essentially removing a few frames from the ends) and exporting the file out of Final Cut. Has anyone seen this? Does it affect file quality? If so, is there a workaround? Thanks.

    Hi Dave and All,

I spoke too soon. We have tried importing Apple Pro Res HQ 422 files (about 5 minutes) into Final Cut and immediately export them and are still seeing the 30% file size drop.

Going back to your original email Dave,I have a dumb question for you: where do we change the timing settings? We’ve set the sequence settings, but can’t seem to adjust anything that would adjust what you refer to as timeline settings. They’re not the same as sequence, correct?

A simple question…is there a setting in Final Cut that would allow me to export a Pro Res file that’s the same size as the Pro Res file we’re starting with?
