    Hello,

I am at a crossroads and don’t have enough experience to make a proper decision. Here is the Background info I know you will need to help me:

    System:
    Mac Pro 1,1
    2X3GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon
8GB of Ram (I can go to 10)
    VIDEOCARD:
    ATI Radeon 3870
    HARD DRIVE:
    4 slots of which I use 2
    Systems/Apps HD = 250
    Media HD = 500Gb

    FCP Version 7
    Camera
    Canon T2i
    Transcode
Using Log & Transfer I code to ProRess 422

    Sequence Settings
    1280X720
    ProRess 422

    Project Outputs
For Web: 470X264 (This is dictated by my employer and their vendor I have not options here) with a mp4 codec. This must be created in Compressor because the vendors site will not accept an mp4 in a QT wrapper.
Full Size: 1280X720 – these videos can be h.264 or mp4.

So knowing all my very intimate details, what can I do to make this once great SD workhorse into less of an HD mule?

I have been told a raid array will help my RT time, but not my compressor time. I have been told that the video card will not help with compressor but a Farm might?

Is there anything I can do? Or am I just stuck?

If a Farm helps – Please is there a blog of newbies or idiots? Cuz I feel like a little of both right now. 🙂
