Hey guys, I need help with a digital clock for FCP

I searched the forums and found a few plugins for the clock but I can’t seem to find one that can do what I’m looking for.

So far the Too Much Too Soon digital clock plugin works best but I need to key past a certain time in fast motion much like how they did it in Paranormal Activity where the time moved in real time and then sped up a few hours. The TMTS plugin goes up to about 9:40 or so then can’t go any further. If I key it back down to say 3 the time goes backwards 🙁

Are there any other ways to approach this (i.e. different plug ins or After Effects expressions) that are up to date?

    Thanks!

Why not simply render out a set amount of the clock in real time as a self-contained clip, reimport it and then use speed ramping to achieve the speedup? In other words, treat the clock the same way you’d treat video footage that you wanted to speed up. If it has to be superimposed on top of other footage, render the clock footage over a transparent alpha channel. Ue ProRes 4444 or the Animation codec (with “millions of colors +” selected), reimport the clip, superimpose it over the other footage and then tweak the speed as necessary.

I’ve never actually tried exporting clips with alpha channels from within FCP, so I can’t verify that it will work. However, you could also generate the clock in AE or Motion and render it over a transparent alpha channel, then import the result into FCP.
