  • find unused media…

    Hi there,
I have completed an edit that is made up of exports from After Effects.
Now I have a whole load of exports from AE in my fcp project that I didnt end up using.
I need to find a quick way to select this ‘unused media’ so I can delete it.

I tried doing command ‘F’ with my final seq selected in the browser window and selecting “unused media” from the drop down, but the search simply returned everything in my sequence and stuff that is unused.

Is this because the media is AE exports and therefore has no timecode data, like captured footage?

Is there a simple way to just highlight which ae bits I am not using?

Judging by the amount of posts on this, and on MManager – I fear not..but be great if someone who really knows could help!!

not as quick as you might wish…

but you could media manager your sequence, use the “copy” option and copy your sequence and related media (with or without handles) to a new project in a new location. you can then delete the old project’s media.

if i understood your post this will get you to where you intended… longer ride though

media manager could use some work done on it… i recently discovered how much it lacked the often unappreciated “do not include media already on target drive” Avid has…
