    Hi Everyone,

It seems from my noodling around that Final Cut Express has the ability to convert HDV video to an apple intermediate codec but it cannot play a file whose codec is HDV. Is this correct? And if so, then how is this possible? I would have assumed that if the program could do the conversion then it must have the codec to play it.

    Thank you,

    Eben

[Eben Shapiro] “Final Cut Express has the ability to convert HDV video to an apple intermediate codec but it cannot play a file whose codec is HDV. Is this correct?”

Correct. HDV native is for FCP only. Express does AIC.

Sorry, no. It can read the incoming data from the camera, but not the codec that FCP records too. Odd…
