    i’ve got a clip that i’ve exported as a quicktime/mov file that is 350mb.

it lists the dimensions as 1920×1080.

i’m trying to create a wmv under 30mb that i can upload to a website.

i’ve got two questions i’m hoping aren’t that tricky:

    1. if i convert a file of 350mb to wmv using flip4mac, will that wmv file be smaller than 30mb? or around there?

    2. under the options section of the ‘quicktime movie export’ window in fcp, is there a codec i could choose that would make a smaller quicktime file and that would still have no problems converting to wmv and uploading to the web? (i’m willing to sacrifice a lot of video quality).

thanks for any help you can offer.

How long is your clip (in minutes)?

H.264 is an excellent codec that will shrink the file size. The parameter that affects file size is data rate. So if the file’s too big after you encode lower the data rate. Conversely, if the file’s under your maximum size you can increase the data rate to get higher quality. If you Google data rate calculator you may find one that will do the calculation for you. And don’t forget that 8 kilobits (8kb) = 1 Kilobyte (1KB).
