Seperate log and transfer software for Canon 5D Mark II
I will be editing a drama series that will be shot on the Canon 5D Mark II camera.
I am wondering is there a software or plug-in that can help to input scene/shot/take information for all the individual clips for editing? I believe you can input the information in FCP after you have transcoded your clips in the browser column, but is there a separate software that don’t require FCP but can do the job as well?
Any help will be greatly appreciated!

It is possible, but requires a bit more work.
Trouble is, all the clips have identical filenames, and that is bound to give you trouble.I’ve got about the same question from the BBC, and thinking about something universal to cope with this.
Logging software is not a problem, transcoding is not a problem, timecode is not a problem, renaming is not a problem. I’ve got all the code needed.
What is missing is a rock solid / practical workflow.

Use LOG AND TRANSFER in FCP…input the information when you have the footage in the L&T interface. You’ll have to manually enter it as the camera doesn’t record this metadata.

Thanks for the info! I know all the clips will have identical numeric file names but will the camera itself generate clips with SAME numeric names as the filming progresses?
If I’m not wrong, I believe that the RED and P2 cameras does not have problems with repeated file names, each clip’s name is unique.
