Sticking images onto a white background
I know this might have been asked a few times but I’m really stuck on this part. Whenever I add an image to a white background (I set the background to colour matte -> white). Then I add one of my imported images but the images have a black background to it and I can’t seem to remove it. In fact, the images I imported didn’t have a background colour to it (it’s an image of a person with no background to it) and now I’m stuck. Any advice on how to get rid of it? I’m using the latest version (7.0). Thanks.

your images need an alpha channel

And if they have an alpha channel, FCP may not be interpreting them correctly.

So I have to go to photoshop and fill in a background colour? Sorry, I’m still just starting out with this program.

I used GIF files so that the transparency of the background remains.

Hi Andy,
GIF is a VERY compressed format for web graphics and is not supported by FC.
Change your graphics to a decent format supporting Alpha: PNG, TIFF, Targa, PSD..
