FCP – Premiere Pro compatibility
Hello!
I’m having trouble exporting video from Premiere Pro on Windows for further editing on a Mac in Final Cut Pro. Currently, I’m using Main Concept, h.264, 1920×1080, level 4.2, progressive, for upload to Vimeo (or YouTube), no more than a few minutes in length. The Editor on a Mac then downloads video material from Vimeo (or YouTube). While importing MP4 files, encoded with settings mentioned above, Final Cut Pro pops up a General Error.
What would be the optimum (quality/size ratio) encoding settings for a certain video file type?Any help greatly appreciated!

You cannot edit H264 in FCP, they will need to convert it to something like ProRes. THis is answered a couple times a day.

Don’t know if this will work from Premiere on Windows but you can give it a try.

He is going through Vimeo so it doesn’t matter what his codec starts out as, VImeo is re-encoding everything (as I understand it). Diffidently not a professional way to pass files along.
So the FCP guy is going to have to transcode anyway so I would change anything on the PC side if that is working ok.
