    Move the clips with the filter onto a higher track and place a color matte underneath it. The black is transparency.

    You can also put a color matte on the top video layer and apply the mask shape layer to it and adjust it till it’s the amount of widescreen you like. and click the inverse checkbox. This way you don’t have to apply a filter to multiple video layers.
