  FCP export to AVI H.264

  Greetings!
  I’m coming to the end of a big project for a customer and they want the finished exports to be in .AVI format. But the output codecs for .avi under quicktime conversion are very limited, I really want the H.264 codec and output a full HD file to avi.

  Any ideas on getting this output from FCP 7.0.2?

  If you want H264 why do you want to tie it to a AVI wrapper. H264 is one of the widely used, cross platform codecs. All you need to do is save it as a .mp4 and it will play on most systems. PC and Mac a like.

  I’ve looked at exporting to .mp4 in compressor but couldn’t see an option for the straight h264 codec, it ties it to either h264 for blu-ray or apple devices.

  Render h264 and change the extension from .mov to mp4. Or flv for that matter if you need flash video.
