    Greetings!

Just got Shane’s, “Getting Organized With FCP” (which is great!)and had a question: My footage is film that will be transferred ast Pro Res 442HQ to a [CalDigit]HD RAID (sorry, no tape transfer first). Should I also use that as my scratch drive or use another RAID, transferring my footage and organizing it to that? Obviously, I don’t want to use the systems internal drive 🙂

BTW: I’m using a 17″ Mac Book Pro.

So the only thing that exists is this digital file? If I were you, I’d get CHEAPER drives to then back this footage up onto. Use the Caldigit to edit, but get like G-Raids or Otherworldcomputing.com drives to backup the footage. yeah, the Caldigit is RAID 5. But if this is the ONLY copy…I’m paranoid.

    Hi Shane!

Yeah, only digital. It’s a Caldigit VR 2TB RAID. Should I get another one or, like you said, something cheaper like a G-Raid for back up of original footage?

    Thanks again!

Just a drive to back up the footage. Nothing too expensive.
