  can you explain a bit more about processor speeds

  Greetings. I am shopping for a new MacPro , and am looking at Apples new Westmere 8 core machine. The base model offers a 2.4 Ghz processor , with an option to upgrade to 2.93 Ghz for a whopping $2,700. Is this base 2.4 Ghz MacPro for $3500 going to be OK for my corporate video needs … shooting Sony XDCam. It just seems to me that we’ve been in the 2.8 Ghz and 3 Ghz processor speed world for quite some time now …so why are these new machines only 2.4 Ghz ? Thank you. BW
