• Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy

  Mix of still frames (stop-motion) and video.

  I am making a music-video. It will be a mix of stop-motion still-frames and video and it will be recorded with my Canon Eos 7d camera. I am not good with Final Cut Pro yet, but know the basics.

  My first, and easiest to answer, question is how I put on the widescreen-effect for everything and not on each and every clip. I can’t seem to use the slug to draw down the widescreen effect. I can’t put it on the clips as I need to make digital zooming in editing. And I really need this as video is 16:9 and images 4:3.

  And now… My stills are huge in pixel rate. This is to work with; especially because then I can zoom digitally without notable degradation in image quality… But in order to burn down the film; and so it won’t be the heaviest file on earth: Is it possible for Final Cut Pro 7 to render everything down to the same pixel rate and format in the end?
  The film would, in editing, be a mix of HD-video, still frames and still frames zoomed in on.

  If not do you have any thoughts on this? And am I making sence. As said I don’t have much experience with this, but I am eager… 🙂

  Rethink your workflow. For each stop motion scene, don’t build it in FCP, use Motion or AE to build your scene. The zooming, panning and other movements will be much better. I would work in a project setting that match the video setting in FCP, which will be 16;9 aspect ration. You will be losing top and bottoms of the pic images but this is how I has to happen unless you scale all the way down and leave black bars left and right.
