  • Problems wih Sony HDV 1500

I have tried to print to video an HD video that I created in FCP 6.06. I am using a Mac pro with 2 x 2.8ghz Quad Core Intel Xeon with 8GB of ram. The audio and video settings are set up for HDV. My sequence is set up for HDV 1080i60. When I try to print to video, the Sony HDV1500 will not respond via a firewire cable. I can go to log and capture and have control over the recorder via firewire. But I can not log and capture.

However I can log and capture and print to video in DV on the HDV1500. It will not do it on the HD using a HDV 124min Digital Master tape.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Matt- Daves correct on the edit to tape but you can definitely print to video with HDV through firewire.

If FCP isn’t seeing the deck try these steps:

First- Quit out of FCP. Turn off deck and disconnect firewire cable. Turn on deck and go to deck menu and choose HDV (not auto or DV). Turn iLink down convert to off.

Connect your firewire cable to a an independent firewire bus (no other firewire devices can be connected)>Turn on your deck.

Go to Apple icon (upper left of screen)>more info>firewire devices. Can you see your deck? Do not proceed until your computer sees the deck.

If the computer sees the deck launch FCP. Choose Easy Setup that matches your recorded format exactly.
