  FCP running slow

  Hi,

  Am having issues with FCP 6.0.3 running slowly. stopping during playback and taking ages to respond to anything.

  Only on projects running off my external hard drive though. It has 300GB free and there are no corrupt files in the project. (these are my normal trouble shooters)

  Have tried most things suggested in other posts – changing RT settings, Playback video quality etc- but nothings working. Could I be having any compatibility issues?

  Can anyone help??

  Have you trashed prefs & repaired permissions? What kind of drive do you have, how big is it and with what codec are you editing? . Once you exceed 50% full, drive performance will begin to degrade.
