animation number: Follow up

https://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/2/916015So, I did this by keyframing some masks. Looks pretty rough and it actually took me about 45min.
Any suggestions/tips on creating such an animation?
Thanks.

September 12, 2007 at 5:07 pmdo you have illustrator?
if you do, you could try the method of morphing in thistutorial. depneding on you version of illustrator, you may need to add a step in illustrator (the tutorial is a bit old, but still works). if you think it will work for you, and have problems, just post.
i would also recommend making the morph pretty darn quick… the morph between a 4 and pacman is going to look a bit strange no matter what. you can ‘blend’ more step/shapes than you need in illustrator and use time remapping to speed up the morph thru the awkward parts.

September 12, 2007 at 5:11 pmHmm .. add a little anticipatory pause after the 4’s unite, to show us the pac-man. It’s as if the character’s winding up before moving ahead, as Wile E. Coyote would windup before speeding offscreen.
Also, the Pac-man’s head doesn’t look smooth. Can you smooth it out?
I don’t think he needs teeth.Other than, I think you’re on your way.

September 12, 2007 at 8:50 pmHey, thanks for the input. Yeah the head ia a little wobbly. It was alot of key framing :/
Thanks for the tutorial Kevin, that’ll help alot!
Yes, a pause before hand would be nice.
The teeth are admittedly, a little odd. I should have drawn out the character on paper before hand instead of molding him as I went along.
