  Editing with 5d footage already cut but confused bout compressiom

  Hi!

  I’m cutting a piece for a client that was shot on the 5D, I’ve already cut it but then I did some reading and realized I was supposed to change the format and change the frame rate.

  Is this something I can change after I cut it, it was such a big project I really hope I convert this stuff after the fact, rather than start again.

  Any suggestions would be soo helpful!!

  What is the framerate of the clips and sequence now?

  The issue of editing native is the codec is not a NLE friendly codec, you have to render it everytime you add any filter or need full rez playback. If you are okay with what you have you can go on as is.

  When you export the final you want to go to something like ProRes.

  Also is the audio sample rate 44.1khz or 48? early 5D firmware had the camera locked at 30fps with 44.1khz audio. Both are wrong and likely to cause problems.

  So let us know what the clip and sequence settings are and we can better advise.
