Lots of times I have to transfer Quicktime files between systems with FCS installed and systems without. Systems without FCP installed are missing the uncompressed codecs, and many times I’ve had to re-encode just so the next person can use it. Blackmagic used to have their versions of the Apple Uncompressed 4:2:2 codecs on their site to download, but these aren’t available anymore, and it seems the old copy of their codec installer doesn’t always work with HD material. But this one does:

    Bluefish Mac Codec Installer

It comes with Bluefish’s 4:4:4 codec for Quicktime, and also comes with the Apple Uncompressed 8-bit and 10-bit 4:2:2 codec installer for Quicktime.

Don’t know how many of you have been in my situation when transferring around uncompressed material, but this is a load off.
