  • Finally upgraded to snow leopard….didn’t know about the sata issue

I waited until all my components were compatible, so I thought. My Aja iohd, avid dnx codec, wacom tablet. I have a clone of my system from yesterday. Did a 7 pass erase and clean instal, repaired permissions after every step, ran software update to get me current. Installed fcs3 and installed profits. Went to see if it was working and none of my sata drives mounted.
Found some old post that said data is not compatible with snow Lep.
I took my 4port pci express card out to maybe find a new driver, only markings say Silicon Image.
What can I do to continue using all my Sata drives/raids.
Do I get a new pcicard? Which one will work?

There should be new drivers out by now. Drivers for my card cam out about 3 months after snow leopard. Also a 7 pass erase is over kill an takes way to much time.

Thanks Zane, that’s what i was hoping, but to no avail.
I downloaded the silicon Image “snow leopard” capatible driver, they had 3 on their site, after multiple tries, still no drives mounting.
Since I have a project to start on turasday, I’m cloning back my old system.
    Live and learn!

The easiest approach is to start with a brand new drive so to go back, you just swap or alt boot.

The esata driver issue was discussed at length when SL first came out. A search of this wonderful resource would have pointed you to the problem before you went ahead. It is also wise to contact your esata card manufacturer in advance to make sure up to date SL compatible drivers are available. The problem may be with the hard drive array as well as the PCI card.

We have a four port Sonnet Sata card that is working fine with SL here. Might need to get a new card that is compatible. Thee are others out there.
