How to create a Connect-4 effect?
i don’t know if anyone remembers the kids game ‘connect 4’ from the 70’s,

but i have a client who wants a similar effect. their logo is made up of 100’s of small dots, and i’m trying to get the dots to fall randomly from above to form the logo. no depth, just a straight 2d effect. i’ve tried to get trapcode particular to do it, but i can’t rid of the 3d depth, the particles seem to fire out before falling… any ideas, or recommendations?

Card Dance or Shatter, probably precomped and time reversed. In shatter, there’d be not physics applied besides gravity.
The problem is “hundreds of dots” and getting the dots to line up with the tiles in Card Dance. In Shatter, you can use the alpha as the Shatter particles but it might not be that easy.
I love these two filters; they are way underused IMNSHO.

Ooh, want to jump into Expressions?

thanks but i’m having enough problems getting my head round card dance (where are the tutorials?), and i have a deadline looming… expressions are like cleaning the garden shed, something i know i should do, but i keep putting off…
