  P2, ProResLT and FCP7

  When logging and transferring P2 media in FCP7, I drop down the preferences pulldown and pick P2 Plugin as ProResLT. Then it captures native DVCPROHD instead. I feel like I am missing something super simple, but my brain is melting from a long day. For FCP6, I remember using a software package from Panasonic to import the media natively. But now with FCP 7, I have the option to transfer as LT. Did a quick search on the forum and online, but came up empty. Any help appreciated, Jason

  If you shoot DVCPRO HD P2, it will only come in as DVCPRO HD. Only AVCIntra P2 can be changed to ProRes.

  Thanks Shane. Good to know. Is the workaround to run it through compressor?

  Only if you need to have it in ProRes. That is another transcoding plus extra storage so unless you have a need to be in that codec, FCP will cut DVCProHD comfortably.
