FC Pro Log and Transfer’s “Add to Queue” stalls- what’s wrong?
I am a total novice to this so am very much in need of help.
The Specs:
All new to me: Panasonic HVX201 (PAL), Final Cut Pro 6.0.1 (now updated to 6.0.6) on a new Mac Book Pro running OSX 10.6.4
P2 media containing footage in 1080i/25p at DVCPRO50 (yes, have been told that is all wrong- but someone set it up for me and didn’t explain)
Connection between three pieces of hardware: USB from camera to MacBook Pro, Firewire 800 from Macbook Pro to external Lacie hard drive.
The Task:
I am needing to transfer the P2 data from the camera to the programme, but store it on an external hard drive’s Scratch Card.
What I’ve Managed To Do:
I bought and installed all hardware/software on new hardware. o_O
I was then unable to use the technique of directly importing it to the programme to store on the programme designated external hard drive. Previously I had used FCE with a Sony Handycam and they ran together in idiot-proof fashion- this venture is different.
I cannot get the programme to “capture” (now called log and transfer, right?) so resorted to copying the contents of the P2 card as per your tutorial here (thank you, it really was easy to follow) to my Scratch Disk on the external drive.
This was successful and launching the Final Cut Pro reveals the files in their designated folder.
They are playable, “in and out-able” etc etc. All with the expected white dot before them. 😉
Highlighting them and clicking Add Clip to Queue starts the process in “status” as I’d expect, runs for some time and stops.
Clicking on the “stalled” status icon turns it into the dreaded red exclamation. This, when hovered over, declares: “Error- no data”
Question:
What am I to check? What have I not done? What ought I to do?
I am really struggling to learn the ropes but will willingly check out or answer any questions arising. Thank you for reading and thank you for answering, if you do. 🙂
