  • FCP hangs when switching back from Finder or other application

    Hello.

I am running FCP 6.0.6 on a brand-spanking-new Mac running 2×2.26 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon with 16 GB 1066 MHz DDR3, so it’s relatively top of the line.

I am using a AJA Kona 3 video card, running AJA Control Panel ver 7.1.

I’m connected to an XSan with about 13 other stations running off of it.

Since I got the new Mac, I’ve found it can take up to 10-60 seconds to switch back to Final Cut from the Finder level or another application, like After Effects or Firefox. The length of time seems to correlate with the amount of clips and sequences I have in my open project, so I assume it’s Final Cut running through a file-check on the XSan.

However, my old Mac took maybe 2-3 seconds to do this. I’m trying to convince my IT guy it’s a permissions issue or something, but he’s adamant “it’s just a Final Cut thing.”

Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can fix it? Ideally without going through my IT dept? Cuz seriously… this is ridiculous.

    Thanks!

Have you tried the NDD version of the drivers?

also i have seen this happen when you have the reference on your kona panel set to ref in and the ref frame rate you’re getting is different than your sequence frame rate…so just switch to freerun
