  AVCHD Log and transfer – How long does conversion take?

  Anyone knows how long it takes to convert 1080i or 720p AVCHD material recorded by the Panasonic AG-HMC71 on a SDHC card?

  Depends on the machine you are converting with. On my octo 3.0Ghz mac pro it is faster than real time. 2.5 min to convert a 5 min clip.

  MacBook Pro (Mac OS X 10.6.4)
  2.4 GHz Intel Core i5
  4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3

  On my 2.2ghz MBP 4GB, conversion is almost exactly “real-time”.

  Using my MacBook Pro (for specs see above) conversion of 1080i material is like 400% faster than the original length of the file.
