compressor; 7d 24p to DVD
Hi guys
I am currently finishing up a project shot on a canon 7d @ 23.97p having a headache getting it on to DVD using compressor.
I have to encode my edit to NTSC DVDs for playback in the USA (I’m in England). I have edited using XDCAM EX proxies at 24p (QT reports the files run at 23.97) and before you say it – I know I should have used prores!
I am having some success using Compressor, however, I’m not really sure what I’m doing so after confusing myself with research I thought I might ask the pros.
– Do I need to transcode my 23.97p material to 29.97p for ntsc playback? If so, how do I do that in Compressor?
– Can DVD players produce interlaced frames for non progressive TVs? i.e if I don’t transcode my project to 29.97 and just tell compressor to make the disc as 23.97p will it work on a non-progressive player/TV?
– The test I did seemed to work (though I don’t know how) why does my ntsc project playback on my pal DVD player and 4:3 CRT TV? Are all DVD players able to convert now? I couldn’t find anything about my player being able to do NTSC.Thanks guys, this is messing with my head!
