Hi everyone, just wondering if anyone can help me out with this problem.

When I change the speed of a clip on my timeline, the other clips after it move left or right when I don’t want them to. Does anyone know what I have to do to prevent this from happening? Thanks.

What version of FCP do you have? If it’s version 7 then there is a setting you can change so that speed changes don’t ripple the timeline. If it’s an earlier version that’s the way it is, period end of story, and you just have to do one of the many work arounds. I move the clip to the end if the timeline and change the speed there, then move it back.

Thanks for the response, David. Fortunately, I do have FCP 7, I’ll look through the settings. Yeah I also started doing that, I changed the speed at the end of the time line then put it where I wanted it afterwards. Thanks again!

Hi, there are some free tutorials here https://www.rippletraining.com/provideoapps.html (no affiliation).
The new speed change tutorial explains exactly what you need to know.
    Regards, Matt.
