I’m capturing footage shot at 720p/30p using an AJ-HD1400 deck with no problems at all…unless playback makes it to the end of the footage before I esc. out of the capture process. If this happens FCP converts everything captured on that tape to 60p. Anyone ever heard of this? I know we didn’t change frame rates while shooting.

Obviously it’s not the end of the world, it’s just turning into a much more attentive capture process than I’m used to.

On tape DVCPRO HD is 720p 60fps. the 30p part means that your system will remove the redundant frames. But the tape is always running at 60fps. If you don’t want this to happen, mark an out point that occurs before the tape ends.

    Thanks!

Know of any way to get the 60p footage I’ve already captured back to 30p? Short of capturing it again and setting the outpoint (which I’ll do going forward).

Using compressor to remove the frames. But then you are adding a layer of compression. I’d recapture.
