    Hi,

I do not have a broadcast monitor (I know!) so what I do at the moment when I want to test some footage (and see how it would appear on a television) is export to QT and then play with back on my computer but hook that up to a television via a mini-DVI to S-Video adaptor. The tele does not have DVI in.
Its better and more reliable than viewing in Final Cut.

I realise this is not a very good setup. But I want to know what the video (HDV, edited in AIC and exported in that)looks like on a tele – viewing on my dual monitor doesn’t provide the info.

This will sound dumb but how different is this from burning on a DVD and playing back on a DVD player? If I export as AIC and burn that on a DVD, its the same quality right?

The only thing I can think of is resolution?

I realise this isn’t directly fcp related but didn’t see a forum for video professionals.

    thanks

You’d be better off getting a cheap in/output solution like matrox or decklink. The gamma you’re getting from the minidvi isn’t going to be right and you won’t get interlacing. If you have a dv camcorder use it as an output monitoring device.
