  Kona Card FCP

  I’m having issues with my FCP 6 (G5 Dual Gig 2.5) capturing an HDCAM SR 4:2:2, 23.98, 1920 x 1080 with the kona card. In capture settings, I’m changing the frame size to 960 x 540 and it still captures at 1920 x 1080.

  On my other system with is the same rig except it has a blackmagic card, it works fine.

  If anyone has any helpful answers I would GREATLY appreciate it.

  That’s a down-conversion controlled by the Kona Control Panel. Check out the Kona manual or search this forum for instructions.

  It is my understanding that the FCP / Kona will not allow you to capture video outside of standard SMPTE frame rasters.

  Would you please explain for what reason you are trying to do this at capture? This is NOT a standard frame size for anything I know of other than Apple TV.

  Thanks for getting back to me.

  The client wants this aspect ratio. Not sure why, and I can change this in the capture settings on my other black magic rig and it works, but it won’t on my Kona. Why not just do this on my black magic rig? Well because I’m getting 3 new systems, all KONA and want to make sure this can work. It could also be a Kona G5 / FCP 6 thing. I will be up and running with 3 8 Core’s with FCP Studio 3 so this may not be an issue.

  That does not surprise me.
  the Aja cards are pretty specific about sticking to the SMPTE standards –which that frame size is not.
