  Format issues with footage

  hello people,

  first post ever! and it’s a toughie! ok… i’ve received some rushes from south africa (i’m based in england) for use in a promo video. each clip has come in mpeg4 format stored in their original, native EX1R XDcam files. however, the mpeg4 files won’t play in any application other than VLC player. they won’t import into FCP or compressor either. can somebody please help me find out how i can get this files into an editable state and into FCP?
