dvcpro hd and H264 in Final Cut
Hi to everybody,
I’m using the Panasonic 900 DVCPROHD for a naturalistic documentary and I’d like buy the Canon 7D in order to use tele lens (400-600mm.)
It would be possible, with Final Cut, put the H264 Canon’s video files in the timeline setted for DVCPROHD?
I know that it is necessary to convert the H264 Canon’s video files in Apple Pro Res, but will they be compatible with the DVCPROHD video files?

Do you mean the HDX900? If so, why not just use a mount adapter & attach a 400mm or 600mm tele right on the HDX900? That would really be much simpler than trying to match the codecs, gamma, frame rates & other characteristics of these two different cameras.
BTW, you’ll need additional support for a lens that big on the HDX900.

I don’t see why not. Just use Compressor or MPEG STREAMCLIP…maybe CLIPWRAP. FCP doesn’t offer that option in L&T.

In the past I tried to use in the same timeline, setted for DVCPRO Hd, some video files from a Canon EOS 5D Mark II, converted to Pro Res, but they lost fluidity. Instead if I opened it with QT fluidity was perfect.
This is my big doubt to buy the Canon 7D.
