    Hi

I’m working on a documentary of some 120 hours of material, shot in 24p on HDV. The tapes were all captured in “capture now” mode into a 2TB firewire800 hard drive. At the same time the tapes were being captured, a video feed was directed from the deck to a DVD recorder, so the director -not such a computer lover- can look at the DVD’s at home. The director then logged all the tapes into a Word document and send it back to me.

I like to know if there’s any way I can take the timecode and notes the director wrote on the Word file and enter them in FCP, so I can speed up the editing.

If I create a EDL from the timecodes, can I add some notes to the metadata??

I read about CatDV, but I don’t see anything about importing a Word or Excel file so it can create smaller logged clips. In case CatDV can do that wonder, do I need the pro or the standard version??

    saludos

    Hi Alejandro

Can we assume the captured clips have timecode and reel no’s that match the log notes? If so then you might be able to wrangle these notes into an FCP Batch List via a suitably formatted Excel spreadsheet … and if you can manage that, then you might be able to use Bouke Vahl’s “FcpReconnect” …. to connect the existing clips to this logging data.

Hi. I have a problem for capturing with Final Cut Pro 5.0.4. with both of my camera ( SONY DCR-VX2100E and SONY Handycam HDR-HC9).
When I clic on Log &Capture, a window appears: “Unable to initialize video deck. You may still log offline clips or use Capture now.”
then the Log &Capture windows show up but I cannot capture.
it seems the MAC doesn’t recognize my vdocamera. I change the firewire cable but it still not working with the same problem.
thank you so much for your help:-) Julia
