  What format hard drives?

  I just got a new LACIE firewire drive off the internet, and I was wondering if anyone could advise me on the best way to format the drive?

  I will be using it for FCP and possibly (Mac) Avid. There is also the possibility that I will want to use the drive on a PC Avid in due course.

  I am a little bit baffled by the different formatting options (Extended, journaled etc…). Any help would be most gratefully received!

  Format the drive as Mac Extended (not journaled)

  then for the PC get MacDrive, it is about $99 and this will give you the best playability all the way around.
