Can someone explain. – I recently bought a sony EX1 and did my first Wedding shoot a couple of weeks ago. I am now editing and have almost one hour of footage up to the cutting of the cake but it is increasingly getting more and more difficult to work with as the edit gets longer. All the early stuff in the edit still plays smoothly but the more recent stuff is stuttering and not smooth. Initially I thought that my computer was just not able to cope with the large files being created but now having found that the early footage still plays smoothly I am confused. If it is a file size issue it would surely be constant throughout, but no. So why the increasing difficulty in the ability to play the footage smoothly as the timeline and edit gets longer and is there a way around it.

    Many Thanks for any enlightenment

Hello, I’ve been using EX1 footage for a year and 1/2 and haven’t experienced anything like this.

What is you system? Internal /External Hard drives? How much Ram? Are you viewing on computer monitor or external video monitor? Are your sequence settings the same as the EX1 footage? 24p,30p?

Just a guess: Could it be the Long GOP compression of XDCam? Or maybe you need a RAID
