  • Motion file’s blend modes not transferring to FCP

I am creating a multi-layered overlay in Motion 3 and importing it into FCP 6. Some of the layers have blend modes different from normal – i.e. overlay, color dodge. It would appear that those blend modes are not transferring into FCP, so instead of these layers overlaying the video when placed into the timeline, they are completely opaque and blocking out the video. (When I remove the layers with the “not normal” blend modes, the overlay works fine.) When I test this the other way, and bring a clip into Motion from FCP and place it into the Motion project, it overlays just fine. The background of the Motion project is transparent.

I’m guessing I’m missing some simple setting. Please help.

    Thank you.

I think I’d export a self contained ProRes 4X4 file of it and edit that into the sequence in FCP.
