  • Is EDL/XML import bust in 7.0.2

We do heavy EDL import for the purpose of EDL checking, eye-match for regeneration EDLs etc for DI prep. And sometimes for onlining in FCP edits that happen in Avid.

So we import EDLs that come out of Avid MC various versions and sometimes other software. Up until FCP ver 6.0.5 there were no issues.

With 7.0 too, it was generally fine.

With 7.0.2, we find some events in imported EDLs missing. Often motion effect clips. The exact same EDL imports flawlessly in FCP ver 6.0.5.

Similarly, XML import of subtitle sequences, which import fine in FCP 6.0.5, import in FCP 7.0.2 as single frame events. Further, line breaks in XMLs sometimes vanish too.

    Is anyone else expriencing this?

I’m definitely experiencing the missing line breaks on import to Final Cut. I’ve been exporting XMLs just to do a ‘find and replace’ on text attributes at once since this seems to be a missing feature of FCP. I do the changes, resave the XML, import to FCP and it loses all the line breaks for sub titles. Everything else works fine though.
