  Cardreader-issues with AVCHD in Final Cut Pro

  Hi,

  I have a problem transfering clips shot with my Panasonic HDC-SD707 into Final Cut Pro 7.0 using Log & Transfer.

  Using the camera, connected via USB, everything works fine and FCP recognizes the clips and imports just fine.

  But a problem occurs when I try to transfer the clips directly from the SDHC-card using a USB-cardreader.

  The Log & Transfer does either not respond (when I manually direct to the SD-card image) or when I try to manually direct it further in, to some other folder within the SD-card, it says: “Not supported media or invalid filestructure”.

  I checked and compared the filestructure on my SD-card with the real AVCHD-filestructure on wikipedia, and everything seems to be there – everything is called exactly identical – wheather I am connecting through camera or cardreader.

  Anybody knows how to make this work ? I need to be able to do “on set backup” without using the camera for that.

  Try transfering the files from the card with the reader to a hard drive first…

  After hours of trying and almost giving up, I found the problem.

  The card was not formatted right. Even though I had formatted it before using it in the camera, it seemed to miss something.

  I formatted again, now everything works.
