Double Vision
Hey guys!
Got another one for you that has really been bothering me. I’ve had this problem before a couple years ago and I think I remember fixing it but it was probably on accident by trying different settings.
Down to it . . .
I’m working on a project for local broadcast. I shoot with an Panasonic AGHPX-500 in 1080. there doesn’t seem to be any problems with my footage. I build my projects in HD, and my timeline settings are:Frame size: HD (1280×1080) 16:9
Aspect: HD (1280×1080)
Dominance: Lower (even)
29.97
Compressor: 1080i60Makes sense right?
The problem? … It’s BACKWARDS as hell! …
I have some graphic treatments that look great when viewed in the Canvas. BUT when viewed on my broadcast monitor (Panasonic BT-LH1700W via AJA Kona 3), I’m getting some VERY NASTY JITTER!!!The jitter is described as such when paused on a single frame:
Each frame is broken into two fields (what seems to be the interlacing). The first field seems to be that of the current frame, while the second field is a ghost of the previous frame. Like I said, this occurs during playback on my broadcast monitor: It looks normal in the FCP Canvas.In real time playback – the same. Looks normal in the Canvas, crappy on my monitor. Very jittery. Backwards as hell! Right? … I guess I should reiterate that it’s going to be broadcast locally, so I have to down-convert to 4:3 and dub to BETA SP (what’s up with that anyways? why can’t these network stations get with the program? Okay, I’m going to stop myself from ranting now).
I’ve tried playing with the settings like swapping the interlacing dominance, or trying a different compressor, and re-rendering, but I’m spinning my wheels in mud. I just can’t allow myself to let this air!
