    Hello everyone,

Looking for some help here. First time on the forums and would appreciate any leads as to what may be the problem and solution to this predicament. I’m just learning FCP so I’m hoping this is something silly that I may have overlooked.

This is what’s going on: had to take .mts files from cannon and converted thru Toast to mpeg-4 and .mov(tried both for future reference). I couldn’t log and capture because the folder that you can capture from wasn’t there anymore.

I had to do this same process from two different cameras. One Sony and one Cannon. Everything from the Sony works like a dream. Everything from the Cannon looks good until I get it in the timeline and render the sequence. After rendering the cannon clips(which are closeups of the speaker) develop a green pixilation over the course of the clip which looks like a green slime that covers the film and is removed when the speaker gestures with his hands.

I had this happen on a previous project and was able to solve the solution by taking original files converting them again in toast and re-importing them into FCP. This time I’m not so lucky have tried re-toasting and re-importing files three times now and still same thing everytime.

Has anyone had this happen and if so what can I do to correct this issue?

Thank you for your time and help!

    Matthew

mpeg4 is not an editing codec in FCP. (I am beginning to wish it was so we can all stop this daily mantra.)

Converting mts files to ProRes has been covered here many times. Try a search. There are better software packages fro free than using Toast.

Welcome to the forum and for the future, questions about things looking weird in a timeline are best answered when details about the original codec, frame size and frame rate are clear plus your sequence settings, computer spec & settings and how you are monitoring.

Thanks for the response Michael, and I apologize for the newb question. I attempted a search in the forum before posting but apparently didn’t look hard enough.

Thanks for the point in the right direction!
