Curious what people think is the best, yet most cost-effective, mid-level camera when using FCP to edit.

Seems like you can get a consumer cam with a lot of features, yet only 1 CCD, for $200 on deal sites (woot.com) but to go 3 chip you are all the sudden up to $3000-$6000 (maybe $2000 on eBay for used).

I currently use a Panasonic PVDV952, which has been fine, but I’m most likely looking to upgrade in that “prosumer” vein.

    Would prefer:
    3CCD
    HD (full HD if possible)
    Tapeless format (e.g. SDHC)
    Mic input
    10x optical zoom (min)
Obviously all the manual features: focus, color temp., exposure
Decent light sensitivity (one of the draw backs of the PVDV952)

I can do without a lot of the other professional features (lens change, etc) for now.

    Any thoughts?

Check out the jvc gy-hm100u. I think it meets all your requirements and I use it frequently with no issues.
