I had a lot of work to do with audio on a project so I there was much round tripping between STP and FCP. The workflow was great. But now when I go the Media Manage the project for archive purposes, I keep getting an error message like this ‘Searching for movie data in file “Effect 7A392A24-B7AF-#14334.AIF.”‘ It just seems to hang there and the only other option is “STOP.” I did look on the STP board for an answer also but so far I have been unable to come up with any answers. Is there something that I should do to the STP files on the timeline before I try to Media Manage?

I’ve never used soundtrack pro for round tripping so take my advice with a grain of salt, but I know that if you use motion project files or livetype project files, the media manager will NOT copy/move all the necessary files.

Thank about it this way — the media manager is only going to move your soundtrack pro “project file” – but not any files that the project file is linking to. (side note: YES, serious flaw – thumbs DOWN FCP team!)

Solution: Can’t use media manager unless you render out AIFFs of your soundtrack pro work. OR – just manually copy over all the files that sountrack pro needs after the media manage is done.

It’s gotta be a bug. Happens to me too when media managing projects with STAP files. So I have to render out all my STP work. Kinda negates the advantage of the “seamless” roundtrip.

That’s the problem .stap files on the timeline. Good to know going forward.

    Thanks!

I know this post is old, but for other people…

-When saving your stap files, save them all in the same directory, and check collect media.

-After you media manage, bring those saved stap files to the drive you’re media managing to and then reconnect media in FCP
